Why the Dockteck 7-in-1 USB C PD Ethernet Hub Is My Go-To for Work and Travel

I used to be annoyed by the lack of ports on my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. Although their designs are very stylish, I always had to change adapters frequently—until a colleague recommended the Dockteck 7-in-1 USB C PD Ethernet Hub to me when searching for a reliable hub on Google. It costs $45.99 (official discount price is $40.99), and I decided to give it a try. Now, it has become an indispensable tool for my work and travel, and today I will summarize my experience.

The Dockteck USB C Hub immediately attracted me with its compact polycarbonate structure—it is very light and can be easily put into a bag. What is packed in the box is a 7-in-1 multi-functional device: an HDMI port that supports 4K@60Hz, 100W PD charging, 1Gbps Ethernet, SD/TF card slot, and two USB 3.0 ports. After connecting it to my MacBook, the original single port instantly became a powerful expansion device, and there is no need for complicated settings at all.

It performs really well. On a recent trip, I connected a hotel TV to the hub via HDMI, and the 4K@60Hz output made for stunning client presentations. 100W PD charging (up to 92W supported) kept my laptop fully charged, and the 1Gbps Ethernet saved me from my Wi-Fi issues—I’ve read that some cheap hubs don’t support USB C PD Ethernet reliably, but this one did. The 5Gbps USB 3.0 port lets me quickly transfer photos from an SD card to my laptop, which is very convenient for my freelance work.

For me at work (I’m a designer who also does editing), this hub is a lifesaver. It’s perfect for MacBook Air/Pro users, video editors who need to use SD cards, or anyone who struggles with unreliable networks. One thing to note, though: your device needs to support DP Alt mode to fully utilize its capabilities, and without DP 1.4, HDMI output drops to 4K@30Hz. Also, it gets a little warm when used for long periods of time, but it's not a problem. If I had to make a suggestion, I think adding a USB-C data port would make it even better, but it's just a minor quibble.

The Dockteck USB C PD Ethernet Hub is a great value at a discounted price of $40.99 on the official website. While it's not perfect—I’ve seen some users complain online that the USB C PD Ethernet Hub not working is an issue with certain knockoffs, but Dockteck's quality is reassuring. Compared to those more expensive and bulky hubs, this hub finds a good balance between portability and performance. Whether I'm editing files on the go or streaming at home, it has completely changed my experience.

Overall, the Dockteck 7-in-1 USB C PD Ethernet Hub is an excellent product. If you're tired of having insufficient ports on your devices or inferior alternatives, this hub is an excellent value. I just hope that future versions add an additional USB-C data port—until then, it'll remain my top choice.
